The Rover

Play by Aphra Behn
Designed for Oxford Playhouse

Oxford University Theatre Society

Working initially alongside producers Vita Hamilton & William Shackleton

Proposed design for the play which did not get picked up, but was an interesting concept to work on.

2004 London- tabloid Britain, Heat magazine, low-rise jeans, Russel Brand on every chat show- translating Behn’s Carnival into the circus of Awards Season. Our characters become actors, singers, models, and media moguls. It’s culture obsessed surfaces and stories, so the essential motif of disguise remains, but the masks are replaced by sunglasses for the public and off-brand hoodies for one another.
